Seat was removed by the salvours. The aircraft was dismantled, conserved and shipped to Jim Pearce in the U.K. (including seat)where it is now stored pending sale.

Hi All,

Amazing that this bird is in nearly intact as the photo's indicate. Very rare find indeed. And one would hope that if and when a restoration is done it will retain the Russian markings. Simply fine potential there.

Thanks for posting the photo's

Been some really nice Russian P-40 finds, but they always seem to end up in AVG markings..certainly would be nice to see at least one wearing its operation markings at the time of loss.

Dave

p.s. Did you receive my PM ?

Hi Dave,

Interesting. I never heard about those P-40's that were recovered. It would be really nice to see one or two of them displaying the markings of our one time Aliies, the Russians, in in their markings. From a purely historical perspective, that would be wonderful. If not for any other perspective, then at least perhaps it was time for US, in the United Sttates to HONOR those people who WERE our Allies during the Great Conflict. The Russians called it the "Great Patriotic War"....are we too proud to acknowledge them or has the long drawn out Cold War hardened us to the realities of the past prior to the onset of the Cold War ?

Just my two cents anyway.

Paul

PS...Dave...check your PM
