I'm sitting here waiting for my wife to get home so I can leave to go see my brother, who lost pieces of his hand in a black powder accident that was totally preventable- loading a hot cannon breach with a full can of powder without swabbing and capping the fireway. I just don't take stupid accidents well. So to keep from screaming like a madman, I'm taking this opportunity to vent and to remind people to BE SAFE! No matter what you are doing! Flying, hunting, bicycling, whatever. I would never advocate sitting on your @ss for all of your life not doing things, but if you are going to do them, do them by procedures, periodically review the procedures, make sure safety checks are there, and make sure you are constantly on the lookout for ways to hurt yourself, because I guarantee you that they will find you if you aren't looking...

So I'm off to Arnot Ogden in Elmira NY. Say a prayer for him, if you think to....

hope all goes well. as i say..... if we had more foresight than hindsight we'd all be alot better off. safety in any hobby or activity is the top dog to sound logic, & piece of mind. it should be of paramount importance 1st & foremost always. god speed in your bro's recovery. tom

I too hope all works out, for a good recovery. I have been STUPID & LUCKY more times than I can count. Getting too old for that now-don't heal up as good anymore as I used to.
Regards
Robbie

My brother lost a few pieces of his hand, has a big open wound, but it looks like he will make at least a 75% recovery of function of the hand. Thanks to all who sent messages of support.
