The Nixon Library gets a "Sea King"

Tue Nov 29, 2005 2:11 pm

The Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace in Yorba Linda,Ca is taking delivery of a Sikorsky VH-3A Sea King helicopter sometime in 2006. This helicopter is currently undergoing restoration at the March Field Air Museum after being found in storage at the Quonset Air Museum in Rhode Island. This helicopter is the same one Nixon flew away in after he resigned the presidency in 1974. The Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley,Ca also has a Sea King on display.

Pat,

Another thing about Nixon I always thought was interesting.
After his resignation he left Andrews AFB on Air Force One.
He didn't land on Air Force One however, because when Ford took the
oath of office the plane's call sign switched to SAM (Special Air Mission) 27000.

Hey Col., your links aren’t working for me.

I saw a set of rock glasses out of this bird for sale at an antique show. Very nice Presidential Seal engraving.
