Wartime Two Seat razorback P-47

Thu Dec 22, 2005 2:20 am

I have heard of two seat P-51's and P-39's, but never P-47's. Check out the following link and scroll down about 5 images to see it... it's a really cool shot. Does anyone know more about these?

Cheers,
Richard

56th FG had one that's fairly well known. It was called "Category E"

Hi Richard--

Thanx for the link. Hadn't seen that field-modified P-47 twosome before, but there was at least one dual-control TP-47G built Stateside. On that aircraft (rather as on the TP-39 Airacobra) the second cockpit was positioned ahead of the usual one, resulting in quite an ungainly Jug. These field mod "jumpseat" Jugs are much better looking...

Hi,

I had seen photo's of one or two "2 seater Jugs" before....but this photo looks like it was a plane that was modifed outside of the factory. Interesting to say the least.
