I am looking for any information about a B-17E that crashed in Kansas on the way to the bone yard in 1945.

that "B-17E" in fact is a B-17F, s/n 42-29697, and the incident occurred on 430613, pilot James K. Lash, and the a/c came from Dalhart, TX. Obviously the a/c was repaired, since it is recorded in another incident, i.e. on 430817 at Amarillo AAF, TX; pilot Robert P. Deering.
