Great pics! When I was a kid, my family used to go up to the Traverse City area around the time of the Cherry Festival and my Dad and I would watch the show. Haven't been up for the show in awhile, but I'm glad to see that it's still going strong. Traverse City is an absolutely beautiful area of Michigan.

If you think the area is pretty now, you should it in the fall. I'll take Autumn in northern Michigan over New England any day. 8)

It is pretty in the fall. I always thought it would be nice to have an early fall air show. Nice temps, nice weather.

Also....there are two full time CG air stations on the Great Lakes. One in TVC and one co-located at Selfridge ANGB. In the summer I believe they still open two AirFac's (Air Facilities)...one in Muskegon and one in Waukegan.

It may be common knowledge to some , but it took me a lot of digging before I found that Jerry Yagen and Comanche Fighters/ Warbirds both have a P-51 depicting " Double Trouble Two". If only the photos had shown the "N" number. There is no listing in the "named aircraft" in the registry of P-51's for "Double Trouble Two" And I believe all 3 Mustangs at the festival are owned by the same people.. When you are given the "N" number you can find the true registered serial number of the airframe instead of the number depicted to represent a historical aircraft. It was kinda fun tracking it down , I think I'm right.

I too was told all three were owned by the same people/person.

I have other pics showing the N numbers.

N351MX or N35IMX (February)

NL7TF (Double Trouble II)

For some reason I did not have a pic showing the Fragile But Agile's N number. Sorry about that. A Google (The Mustang website) showed it as N98CF. It also showed it has several previous numbers too. The bio says it is out of Texas. The license plate on their black trailer was out of Texas too.

The way that I tell the two Double Troubles apart is that the witches are different.

Also NL7TF has under the windscreen on right side of fuselage "Susie", which I believe is Tom Freidkin's wifes name... And I don't think it has the hardpoints for drop tanks like Jerry Yagens does but I could be wrong about that...

N98cf is the "N" number of Fragile But Agile, a P51-K model, according to the FAA registry. Double Trouble Two is the marking of the 353rd Fighter Group Commander, "Wild" Bill Bailey, according to my latest Aviation History mag. All three N351MX, N98CF, and NL7TF are registered to Comanche Warbirds of Houston Texas as per FAA registry. Aviation History Mag. has WIXER, Stephan Wilkinson doing some great writing, this months article is on the B-25, Empire State Building mix-up.
