I am curious how cooperative the CAF will be with flying with Doc once she takes to the air. I assume most operators would rather be the 'only game in town' most of the time to assure tour and flight fees where they go?

I recently asked some of the FIFI crew about this. They are STOKED to do some formation flying with Doc. As for spreading the wealth, they just need to coordinate their tour schedules: this year, one does east coast and the other does west coast, and next year, switch coasts with each other. No problem!

Yeah, that makes sense. Running a 4-engine bomber these days requires you to be the only game in town if you're looking for public in-person funding to keep it in the air on a barnstorm tour.
I'm sure the first few times there's a Superfort formation, people will go bonkers. After that, the individual crews will have to go back to finding normal ways to pay for the birds. That won't go over well when either plane lands in a town and only the die hard warbird fans show up, because the other one had passed through there soon before.
