Although some people could be rightfully offended by your remark, one of the most treasured freedoms, that of speech, has to be foremost in our country. Even when I disagree with what you say, I will respect and defend your right to say what you want.

If you say it, you own it. But, I want to commend you for not deleting, modifying or altering your original statement. This shows -at least to me- that you have integrity and you are not running away from what you stated.

I am no stranger when it comes to say things that should have better not be said, if for no other reason, just for peace's sake.

Saludos,

Tulio

Just for the record, I'm not being politically correct. I'm probably one of the least PC sumbitches out there. As a practical matter however, and living even closer to GRIC than Pooner, that's kinda like opening formal negotiations with the Vietnam People's Air Force Museum in Hanoi by saying, " I got five Yankie dolla, you love me long time?"

And rightly so, five dolla is kind of insulting. The going rate now is around 10 dolla.

I "wadn't" referring to you at all.

And, for any offense, discomfort or de-synching of your propellers that I have caused, I humbly, abjectedly, sincerely, honestly and quickly, apologize. :drink3: :drink3: :drink3: :drink3: :drink3:

I have seen people here, and in other forums, post something, and then at the first hint of trouble, modify their original posting. That was my main point.

Whatever we say, has consequences. But at the same time, we have become such a nation of wimps, that anyone will jump to "defend" what they perceive as an offense to other group, person or institution.

Freedom of speech is precious, especially to those of us who have immigrated to this great nation, coming from places where, for saying what someone does not like, you and likely your family, pay the ultimate price.

That's all. Let's go back to discussing airplanes, puleeeze.

Saludos!!!

So back on topic: Is the tribe at all interested in parting out some of those planes, and if so, how does one get in touch with them? Castle Air Museum has a PV2 awaiting restoration. We need bomb bay doors, a turret and a tail cone. I can see a tail cone that looks exactly like what we need in the pics.

Does anyone have any kind of contact info?

So back on topic: Is the tribe at all interested in parting out some of those planes...

And the answer is...... (long pause for dramatic effect)..... NO.

GRIC has absolutely no interest at this time in doing anything to preserve the a/c for eventual display, parting with them to others who restore or operate the type, or even permitting you to scrap them and take them away and clean up the airfield so the snakes can slither and the lizards can dance on virgin desert in the moonlight.

No.

You might try calling the GRIC administration offices in Sacaton. You could e-mail and telephone board members of the GRIC Airport Authority. You could drive down there in person and wait for hours in a lobby to speak with someone who might be knowledgeable of whom to contact within the Tribal community. You could offer to help move them to secure area until a decision is made to either sell them preserve them or scrap them. Heck, you might even call, write or e-mail the BIA in Washington, DC and ask for direction on the matter. For fun, you could even involve your local senator's office and request that they help steer you down the right path or maybe have them flex a little muscle with a phone call.

All good, if you like the effort and frustration of trying to re-invent the wheel... meaning all of the above has been done before by numerous individuals and groups with zero response. I'm old. I have discovered good wheel = round wheel. If you've got the piss and vinegar and staying power in you, go forth and carry the fire. Maybe some day someone will break through.

I guess I didn't make that clear in my previous post.

Castle would better spend staff time and resources securing the B-32 Dominator on the moon versus trying to get response from GRIC. That airframe probably has less vandalism damage and probably hasn't been encumbered with as many liens as the Lockheeds at Memorial. I'd be willing to bet a good metal man could knock the dents and ridges out of a metal garbage can and turn it into a proper PV-2 tailcone before you'd even get a Y or N answer out of someone at GRIC.

Just my two cents worth, and with all of that said, I guess that means right about now I owe you change.

- Robert in PHX

PS If ya'll are lacking parts for the new display, there are a few folks active and inactive on this board that might be able to help with some if not all of the missing pieces.

O.K., thanks for the laugh. It was worth a shot. I guess there's another Borate Bomber with a tail cone out there that might be a tad easier to come by. We've got several projects in line before the 9edit) Harpoon, hopefully the pieces won't be too hard to come by.
