This morning I supervised a small group of middle school students at the local VFW. We assembled 500 US flags and poles for a local 'Field of Honor'. The kids look forward to it each year, and having a direct role in constructing the memorial makes that much deeper an impression on them.
At one table, a 93-year-old former SBD pilot joined two of the boys to "help" for a while. Priceless.
