This guy landed in a field next to my hangar today. Two came over scud running in the rain, they hovered for a minute together then the other one headed off South. This guy landed in a field next to the road, sat there a few minutes and then took off. 10 or 12 minutes later he came back and landed again, sat for a while and then took off South.

Small Country airport...F95 Calhoun County located between Panama City and Tallahassee FL. About 70 miles south of Ft. Rucker Al.

We have had Blackhawks land on the airport and taxi to the pumps but this aircraft sat down in a field, the first time right next to the road and the 2nd time outside the airport fence but in a field next to my hangar.

I think he may have had a warning light or problem he was trying to investigate and sort out.

They are noisy little buggers, aren't they? I saw a pair in level flight...the first time I ever saw one. The only thing I could compare them to were B-25s in terms of volume.

Roger that, they certainly are not stealth aircraft. :)

Noisy is right - and the only time I ever saw one in flight over Yucca Valley (out of 29 Palms) it sounded way more like a jet than a rotorcraft, even though the rotors were tilted up.

The sound the Osprey makes is unforgettable.

It really does sound like a jet in "airplane mode". I have yet to see one for real but look forward to it.
