Best of luck, but looking at the minimal aircraft parts in the post, it made me realise that I have a B-36 project in my garage!

Others have made similar remarks on Facebook and have been challenged to show their own projects and have been alleged to have hidden agendas! So although it's nice to see some P-43 parts - and I do enjoy seeing new photos from this organisation - the social media aspect has been somewhat soured.

Howdy - KiwiZac you are partly correct. We've made very good efforts to explain to readers / watchers that images will be released over a period of time. If the viewer has followed this then they would understand that there is still more to come. Given we are also covering the A-26 and B-25 projects, I think it not unreasonable to release information about projects as a reflection of their priority. We (Reevers) have taken every step to make sure this has been made clear. The A-26 is our priority, then the B-25, then more efforts into a B-17 and then the Lancer. So as time permits - and costs as well, we'll clean and display the lancer parts we have, so what is currently posted is just the tip of the iceberg so to speak. No way are we implying we have an entire aircraft, but more than many other projects that have been made to fly again and less than others. We had one person jump is straight away the pics were posted making similar claims to 'this is not a project'.

As time permits more will be released and when we have placed all the parts we have on a temporary frame - to reflect where each part belongs, then we can have a discussion about how much is, or is not there. I think thats fair.

As for the social media being soured, I disagree, if you step into the boxing ring with a negative attitude, you'll get the count down, all we ask is that people be constructive and we welcome all positive feedback. This is clearly stated time and time again. If one or two people do not to read and adhere to this, then they will be corrected.

Thanks Peter, I appreciate your reply. I just felt the back-and-forth this morning was more adversarial than it needed to be, but that's purely my own opinion.

And I'd like to reiterate what I said earlier - I greatly enjoy seeing any new project pics from Reevers as it's an exciting bunch of stuff to follow.

Perhaps your group would be interested in selling the Lancer project to someone that would put the time and money into restoring her to fly, all the while you guys would get some (probably) much needed cash to aid in expediting the three other multi-engined projects. Just a thought.

Just an update - another group here in Australia has now released pictures of their P-43 Lancer remains. While offers of assistance have been made (we have technical data we'd be happy to share) our offer has been declined. The issue of Lancer remains has been a hot and often personal topic with many claims of parts being located throughout the state of Victoria. The pictures of this new discovery have only recently surfaced and only after we released ours. Numerous inconsistencies exist with the provenance of the parts and offers of help to confirm and identify them have also been refused.

In 2014 IIRC, the first announcement was made regarding our remains and while there were many demands placed upon the then owners to produce pictures, for their own reasons they chose not to do so, couple with the fact that the release of that initial discovery was made without permission placed several parties into mediations.

During all this period and in an effort to settle the disputes between some parties Reevers purchased the remains of this Lancer. This was not kept a secret to those who needed to know and some finer concerns are still being addressed regarding meta data, video and disclosure agreements. Reevers has nothing to do with these ongoing discussions except we have no lawful access to some images.

Nevertheless, a number of people here in Australia have taken it upon themselves to be judge, jury and executioner with our handling of this matter. We engaged the help of a reliable and trustworthy media person to handle the numerous events relating to our A-26, B-25 and other projects.

We know of possibly one other collection of parts for the P-43 which now takes the number of potential survivors to three. As for selling our project to pay for other projects, we do not feel that is necessary just yet. Again we offer our assistance, via a third party if desired, to assist anyone with P-43 research, recovery and preservation.

...or more precisely, three separate collections of bits, extent largely unknown.

From what I've seen, I'd find it hard to substantiate one survivor, much less three. I'd love to be proven wrong, but equally I'm reluctant to get too excited about a bunch of bits.

a bunch of bits is more than some P-51s flying in the states started with, why does everyone here bitch so much? is this the warbird information exchange or the wankers information exchange? based on most attitudes here it seems the latter title is more relevant.
