Legend Formation at Rivolto Airshow

Sun Sep 20, 2015 8:16 pm

The Rivolto Airshow, held September 4, 5 and 6 in Italy, included a "Legend Formation" each day featuring important training aircraft in current or past use by the Italian Air Force. The formation included a T-6G, Fiat G.59, MB-326E (all privately owned), MB-339A, MB-339CD and M-346A.

The G.59 (above) is what Jerry Yegan is currently having rebuilt to wartime G.55 standard, complete with a DB-605 engine.

The M-346 is currently in contention to replace the T-38 in USAF service as an advanced trainer.

Meier Motors has been making a lot of progress lately on Jerry Yegan's rebuild.

This is what the completed G.55 will look like.

As a side note, the Syrian's used the G.55 in the late 1940's. In fact, al-Assad's father flew them in the Syrian Air Force. I wonder if any forgotten airframes still exist, and if they can survive the current insanity?
