B-52 parts around Wichita Ks

Sat Dec 19, 2015 12:09 pm

Does anyone know anything about McFarland Research? There's a small building just South of the old Boeing Wichita plant that has several B-52 fuselages sitting behind it. It's fenced so I can't get close enough to the fuselages, but there is a tail that reads 60-051. Joe Baugher reads like this plane is still in service though.

Also, there is a B-52 cockpit that looks to be authentic that has been converted to a simulator that I've seen at several Wichita area events on a trailer. Serial number on the side of it is 61-023, which is the one that lost its vertical tail in the 60s. Anyone know if this cockpit is from that plane?

Thanks!
