Looks great although the 'weathered' look is more authentic. As for the sponsors names - great stuff, reminds me of the factory signed machines like B-25H "Bones"..

On the FAA requirements for an Annual inspection, the aircraft exterior skin is supposed to receive a protective coating of sealant (wax) once a year. Shops don't do that as the owner doesn't want to pay for it and can do it themself. It's actually smart money to keep a nice coat of wax on your aircraft. It reduces corrosion and maintains resale value better.

Huh? Now you're just making stuff up. Never heard of the wax/sealant requirement... care to provide an FAR reference?

Aren't those names the doners that helped get the airplane restored? I'd hate to be the guy having to paint all those on!!!

The names are made with vinyl cut lettering. The plane sponsorship program is one of the key funding methods. The names on the very front "Lead Crew" are some of the original sponsors that helped get the airplane through restoration. Names are being added all the time. In fact they may have to be stripped off and re-done in a smaller font. Once your name is up there, it stays forever.

Not making it up. Will see if I can find it. It's in the general guidelines for an ANnual if you don't have specific manufacturers guidelines. Say, on a Republic RC-3 Seabee .

Here's the applicable FAR. Don't see anything about wax in there......

Seriously, save your time on looking it up, as it just isn't there. See Baldeagle's post above with the link, 14 CFR Part 43, Appendix D. No wax. No protective coating.

Are you a mechanic, pilot or aircraft owner? I'm guessing not, because if you'd ever spent any time at all tinkering around airplanes you'd know this...

They'll probably pick up 3 knots. Maybe 2.

IIRC - Meguiars did something similar with "Fuddy Duddy" a few years back.

Meguiars is very supportive of the classic car hobby, glad to see them expanding into the Warbird world. Each winter, I hit my '69 Austin-Healey Sprite with their polishing compound before putting on a coat of wax, also by Meguiars. The paint on the car isn't that great (it's a respray from about 20 years ago), but their stuff gets the most out of what still left there.
