IIRC the Smithsonian uses a special microcristalline wax on the airplanes that seals the metal from the atmosphere. I highly recommend Robert Mikesh's book "Restoring Museum Aircraft."
You may also contact the Udvar Hazy team directly if a good internet search doesn't turn anything up.
I'm sure everyone here would be interested in what you find out so please check back and share.

What about the bare metal (or just alodined) parts, same stuff or use something else?
