This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Instead of throwing the big bux at the "problem" is there a simpler solution
we've missed? What if we got "really low-tech retro" and introduced pork
fat as an element in the weaponry and then announced our change in tactics? Or am I being politically incorrect?

Ahh now that would truely be a awesome thing. To finally see the Enforcer in some capacity come in to fruition. I think there would be quite a few pilots that would be chomping at the bit to get down and dirty in a descendant of the mustang.

What AC-47 is this and where is it? Also in what role is it used in? Thanks

The OV-10s in the picture are most likely the Colombian A models in for upgrade.
There were only been 2 A model airframes left at AMARC. They've been there for at least 15+ years and are not complete. They are across the bridge and they are up on blocks.
The D Models were lined up across from the hangar where the F-4 drones are worked on. They are held for State Dept use.

Well, if anyone would like to see a Bronco in person this one will be in Wendover August 26 as part of our show - open the link and then scroll down a bit - there are a bunch of pictures of this bird.

"i'm flabbergasted!!! an ac-47 still in service, & in a war zone too?? do tell!!! what's the skinny on that one???"
You probably would then, be surprised to find out that the turboprop version of the C-47, is still in action in Colombia.
El Salvador used the same gunship concept with Bassler turboprop BT-67s armed with .50cal machine guns; I don't know the armament suit of the Colombian aircraft, but they are very actively used in combat operations.
