MORIOKA- A former Japanese soldier was just found in the Ukraine. He was last seen 60 years ago when he went out to fight on Sakhalin Island. He is now 83 years old and going home. The Russians took over the Island held him all these years. His name is Ishinosuke Uwano.
What a story! I wonder if he can find some warbirds?

It was Russia. He was not in prison. They just did not let him leave until recently.

at least he knew the war was over, not like some of the hold outs who were found over the last 25 to 30 years on remote islands, still looking to fight for the emperor. kind of embarrassing for the russians to have held an old man & common soldier that long. another island hold out was found a few years ago if i recall
