Need Help Identifying Drop Tanks

Fri Mar 09, 2018 12:28 pm

Hey all, I took several pictures of a pair of drop tanks (for sale) the other day, and I need help identifying them. But first, how do I post the pictures???

Please and thanks!

If it helps at all, they are about 81" long and 27" tall with a filler cap on the front left, what looks like an inspection plate on the right, and a vertical "pinch" seam. They look to be about 75 gallon, but I can't tell. I can text/ e-mail pictures, but I don't know/ remember how to post them. Photobucket is dead, right?

One of the WIXers JesseC posted the following link for single use photo posting a few weeks ago, this is the first time I used it. Seems to work OK!

They're big, but here's one as an example. I followed the link and copied the URL for the actual picture.

Looks like standard steel 75 gal. tanks with a bunch o' repairs. I really like how your links have a "substantial blow-up feature" for detail study. When I used the image host to post "The Dude", I think I used the "BBCode full linked" feature. "The Dude" image was something laying around in my image cache...sorry, but that's about the scariest image I can imagine for him....he looks veeeerrrry un-abideful. Like somebody pissed on his rug or sumpthin'!

Thanks for the help! The tanks are pretty rough, but still surprisingly solid. They were apparently used as part of a paddle boat for 30+ years. There are several dings and dents, and the bottoms have fiberglass cloth over the metal. The caps are pretty rusty as can be seen. The gentleman is asking $500 for the pair. Are they worth that given the condition they’re in? I could see them being cosmetically restorable, but I doubt they could be made functional without a lot of work. Thanks again!

This works well, thanks.

If anyone else is going to try it, don't mess with the stuff on the bottom half of the page like I did. It's just spam that's unrelated to the photo host.

Thanks for bringing this back up. All the pics of 75 gallon tanks I’ve seen have a horizontal seam vs the vertical one pictured here. Any other ideas on what these are and what they would have been fitted to?
