One more thing to keep in mind...
If they're counting industry gross receipts, that won't include dollars generated by military open house events, which (unlike European events) are free admission.
While they usually lack the civil big-name acts, the feature the military groups and feature warbirds.
While the air show association probably used their attendance numbers in their totals, the concession receipts from military shows likely aren't counted.
