I assume it's fairly original and with no major damage history (at least in the last 50+ years in Lacy's ownership).

Should be a clean aurfrane.

Comparing the price for Mustangs then (WIX poster Stephan Wilkinson, then an editor of Flying magazine, did a pilot report on a Cavalier Mustang in the February 1969 issue, it had a basic price of $76,000 for a zero-timed airframe and rebuilt engine) and the reported $2 million price mentioned above, it would seem long term Mustang ownership is a good investment.

So, a guess of about $50,000 in 1964 to $2 million today...not bad, but I'm sure some homes in Southern California have done the same.

Did Clay enter the cross country race in 1964? The reason I ask is that big tank (looks like, anyway) behind the pilot's seat in these great photos. I don't think either spray bars or ADI were common at that point so a tank would seemingly have to be for fuel.

Lacy had entered in the transcontinental dash, but arrived at the starting point in Clearwater, Fla., too late to make an official start.
