Not long ago, I talked with someone who worked on the film, and he told me when they filmed the "breakout from Belgium" sequence at the Dutch Armored training ground at Amersfoort, these Thunderharvards dropped 'bombs' made from fire extinguishers!
It's one of the very few times I've ever seen real casings dropping from aircraft in a movie not filmed by active duty aircraft.

I dont think you have gone too far at all. Im the exact same way, although what I have isnt going to be as detailed as your list. I think doing that research and creating a faction is half the fun
