This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Not sure if this is old news or not, but Air Classics announced on Facebook that LSFM is selling some aircraft including their B-17. I hope wherever she winds up she flies again. The article was documenting the downsizing of several collections and predicting the closure of some as well. I don't like hearing of possible closures, but it does seem to be trending that direction unfortunately.

I have no doubt that Thunderbird will be purchased and cared for.

That is a pretty funny article you linked to. I like how the "writer" gives the cause of every air museum's problems as incompetent management, then gives the cause of his own publication's problems as everything BUT incompetent management.

Yes, I just gleaned the article for information. Opinions don't belong in what is supposed to be a factual post by a major magazine of all sources. I could see if Joe Blow inserted his two cents, but a national(also international??) publication should refrain from doing so.

I'll probably get blasted for this, but I hope whoever buys it fixes her nose.

It sounds like they've acquired one. It used to be somewhat common knowledge, but now the airframe has been listed as going to a new owner at an undisclosed location. So, I don't want to upset anyone involved by saying which airframe it is but a little searching you should be able to determine which one I'm speaking about.

I've had the same thoughts, and I'd like to see the glossy paint go away. I know glossy is easier to maintain, I just don't like the looks. I think with a little work she could have her appearance greatly improved.

If you are referring to the added windows under the blister i think most would agree with you.

That too, but the blown plexiglass nose is very noticeably non standard.

Easy fix, all you have to do is send them a check & a note outlining what you want them to do.

Googled and searched Wiki and asked a friend in the business who should know. He didn’t know and the internet was no help. I guess this is knowledge to you only. Any more clues than that ?

Didn't they have a Red Tail Hawk come through the nose that cause the remodel?
