Outside P-47 in Brazil...new to me...

Outside the Museu do Expedicionário in Curitiba, Paraná State, this F-47 (P-47D) marked '226756/A-4' sits. It is believed to be 4110.

Unless they are surrounded by political signs I'm not interested

The Jug looks really nice on display!
At first look at that B-17, I wondered if that was the one that was rumored but almost no photos existed of it. But looking into it, I realized there's that one outside and another partially dismantled inside a hangar. I've only ever seen one bad photo of it.
At one point I was on a mission to see very existing B-17 that isn't underwater/underground, but there are a few places down there I wouldn't wanna go for just to see another Fort...

I would like to see them all come back to the US and possibly be displayed indoors.

I'd rather see them indoors or flying in Brazil, though the latter is quite unlikely. There are many places you can go in the US to find a P-47, A-26 or B-17, but these types are quite rare here, the P-47 being the most plentiful. If we count aircraft that are airworthy, on display, being restored or in storage all together there are over 30 P-47s in the US, we have 5. Y'all have around 70 A-26s, we have 3. Y'all have 40 B-17s, we have 2.

They served here, some for over a decade, why ship them off to the US? Honestly I think they could be much better utilized here, the P-47s specifically would be pretty useful for teaching people about Brazil's role in WW2 since we had an entire Group of those in the MTO.

Agreed. Can someone put together a list of those birds and their status? I know the Air Force museum has one that is airworthy but not flown. Or is it two? Would be great to see them eventually operate as some sort of Air Force based honor squadron like the BBMF or the new Indian Wing trying to get off the ground.

Probably this is the collection of "bad photos" of the B-17

I am afraid I cannotgive proper credit tothe photographers. I have come up on these photos through the years.

One more B-17 shot for you: FAB 5406/43-39335. Found it on eBay:

(seller put a couple watermarks on it but they disappeared... somehow  )
