A few more shots provided by WW2John. The plane looks like she's getting a first class restoration......

Thanks Scott for posting these for me (being the computer/internet/photo challenged person that I am).

Photo captions:

#1 APU (auxiliary power unit) opposite rear entrance door

#2 left side of radio compartment - radio operator's position

#3 oxygen "recharger" station & walk-around oxygen bottle

#4 looking aft from next to the top turret into bomb bay and radio compartment beyond

#5 Ammo can storage in nose

#6 part of the bomb bay

#7 two cranks & one extension handle for "starter, landing gear, tail gear, bomb door, flap"

#8 oxygen "blinker" (flow rate monitor)

#9 detail of trailing antennae assembly just aft of ball turret

#10 turbo on engine

...enjoy...

Great pics! You don't happen to have any pictures of the top-turret assemply from inside the airplane do you? Some more cockpit pictures?

Looks like a lot of work. Will they let anyone inside to see all this once it is on display?

Are you sure the turbo is from a B-17? Looks more like a B-29?

FlyingFortB17 - no more cockpit pictures (I spent most of my time talking with my guide Hank Hendrickson, a 30 combat mission 8AF B17 pilot). And, it is bloody hard without the correct (r-e-a-l-l-y wide angle) lens to get ANY shots of the top turrent from inside the A/C. If you have been there, you know what I am talking about. If not, take my word; I have tried and failed.

Chris - you are right - I incorrectly included the B29 turbo in the B17 pictures.   Thanks for catching that.
