Understanding that this is just crystal ball stuff (with lots of unknown variables) and no one really knows for sure, let me re-phrase the question:

What do WIXers suppose will be the next "golden egg warbird" in 10-15 years that everybody will say: "I sure wish I'd have bought one or two of those when they were still some around, and still fairly cheap"

Here are a few that are currently on my "I sure wish I'd have bought one or two of those when they were still some around, and still fairly cheap" list,

T28
T6
T33
L5
L19
Stearman
Navion
T41
Beech 18
and a whole slew of commie birds.

I picked those because they are within striking distance of the average joe. I know there are a lot more choice available than those.

A little more money

TBM
A26
B25

A lot more money
Seafury
Seafury
Seafury

After that you're begining to go into the stratosphere.

Golden egg,,,,
T28
Seafury (it's probably already there)
Yak 3 and 11

If there is some kind of politician dufus pandering import ban on war devices, then all of the commie block birds.

First buy a Philips 52" plasma TV with Bose surround sound.
Next buy a Xbox 360 for the new plasma.
Finally go out and buy a Nissan 350z and the Black Sabbath black box to blair in the car on the way home.

I'd buy an already flying B-25 in a heartbeat if I had $600,000 available for buying a warbird. I'd rather go play now than wait through the time and expense of something being restored. My second choice would be an A-26 Invader.

I've been thinking about this all this time.

As far as an investment with a good return in ten years is concerned, go buy all the L bird planes and projects you can find.
Store most of 'em, keep a few types flying and stay current in them.

In the next ten years, there will be lots of our older guys having to switch to the LSA rules to keep from losing their ability to fly all together and there will be a surge in demand for the L birds that qualify under LSA.

At least that's what I think is gonna happen.

( add a buck if you want coffee with that....)
