In their latest e-newsletter "News & Notes", the NMUSAF announced their expansion plans.

View a PDF of the entire-newsletter at: http://www.wpafb.af.mil/museum/pa/nn0607.pdf

"The National Museum of the United States Air Force is in the midst of a long-term, multi-phase expansion project, with attention focused on building an expanded Space Gallery.

The proposed $15 million, 55,000 square foot, climate-controlled gallery will be devoted to portraying the Air Force's past, present and future in space.

Several major artifacts are planned, including a Titan IV rocket, Mercury, Gemini and Apollo spacecraft, and a range of other rockets, satellites and booster systems.

The Space Gallery will be followed by a new Presidential Aircraft Interpretive Center, which will enable the museum to move its presidential aircraft collection from the secure portion of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where it is currently located.

Other future plans call for a new Education Center, a Collection Management and Conservation facility, an additional museum entrance, more parking and improved access from the interstate highway system."

The NMUSAF also announced that you can sign-up for their Fall dates of Behind The Scenes Tours starting August 1 by calling (937) 255-3286, ext. 302 or 303.

Good news indeed! Now if they could only find the room to bring the JU 52 and the C-60 Lodestar inside.

Perhaps they're thankful there isn't a B-32 Dominator left to try and stick inside!

That's what they want you to think. Why do you think Hangar 13 is closed to the public? hmmm?

I wonder if they will have the X-planes in the presidential hangar like they do at the annex? Or will they eventually build another hangar for them as well?
