Can anyone enlighten me as to what happened to Mr. Anderson owning this plane? I remember seeing it around alot when I lived in Geneseo, and only recently discovered he no longer owned it.

Crashed in 1995 on a flight back to Geneseo from Oswego, NY. Dr. Anderson hospitalized for a short time with back injuries. Aircraft was heavily damaged and was recovered by the part owner, John Giljam. A custody battle ensued after Anderson came out of the hospital as to who had rights to the plane. Eventually it was sold, supposedly as part of the compromise in the settlement. Sold to Dick Thurman, who began restoration... and through him was shipped to NZ for complete restoration by Pioneer Aero. Sold while in restoration to Tony Banta and returned to the US in 2002. Flies out of Livermore, CA with the rest of Mr. Banta's fleet.

See: http://www.warbirdregistry.org/p40regis ... ak940.html for photos and details.

Thanks to all who responded to this question. Very informative bunch around here.
BlackWolf, enjoyed the site, brings back some memories of when Doc still owned that plane. I think the last time I saw it was in 85 or 86, then we moved from Geneseo to Montana.

Hi all:

I was part of the team that originally restored RCAF 1058 after it came to the US around 1978. It was owned then by a Stuart Schwartz ant Bill Pryor and was restored at Ly-Con Aviation at the Oakland-Pontiac airport in Waterford Michigan. If I recall, it was the Reserve Grand Champ at Oshkosh in 1980 or 81.

The wings had been sawed off outside the gear. It was quite a site back then.

...and what of his Spitfire TD135... and did they really separate the wings from the fuselage as settlement of a dispute? :(
