Warbird Information Exchange

Well hate to pass bad news, but the Corsair engine is not ready in time to make Oshkosh or Thunder over Michigan. Jeff Abbott has been running the engine and although it is making good powers and pressures, it's using alot of oil. He just got a new computerised honing machine and it gave the cylinders too smooth of a hone, not allowing for breakin of the rings. He had another engine with the same problem. He will have to re-hone and re-ring the engine. I plan to take the OV1D Mohawk to Oshkosh on Monday or Tuesday depending on finishing it's inspection in time. Hope to see some of you there. I understand that "needle" will also come in the Museum C47.

Sorry to hear this Doug. Was looking forward to the Corsair/Skyhawk Flight at Thunder.

That's too bad about the Corsair, but I'm always happy to see another Mohawk

We will still have the Skyhawk fly with a Corsair. We have added Tom Duffy with his F4u.

Doug, I don't know if you have access to a helmet camera system, but I for one sure would like to see some onboard pilot POV from the Corsair, when you do fly it in the future.......maybe some webstreamed footage on the CFM website. That would be cool!

Does anybody have the web address/link to the helmet cam footage of that awesome Lauderback/Shipley formation acro? It was posted here a long time ago, but unfortunately I had the link saved on my old computer.
