Speaking of Vampires... can anyone ID this one?

Does anyone have any photos of the other T Mk. 35 Vampires in the same batch (N11921 to N11933)? They all seems to have worn civilian colors at one stage. There were some photos of Chuck Parnall's N11926 in civilian clothes in a magazine article years ago. I even think there was a photo of another at one of the many forums recently.

Hi TJ--

I have a few shots taken 21 years ago, showing N11929 in very sorry shape at Dayton General Airpark in Ohio. Dark metallic blue with white trim. Probably looked quite nice at one point, but not by the summer of 1984...I understand it moved on a number of years back for restoration (to Indiana iirc, maybe the Ropkey collection). Have also lensed Ed Stead's T35 Vamp N11930, but that one wasn't in civilian livery, wore pseudo-RAF finish as "ES930" (which serial would, I think, have belonged to a Spitfire V in real life!)

Sometime I'll get the Dayton Vamp scanned to CD and try posting it here...

Cheers

Steve T

Just to explain, I got that photo (actually a photo of a photo) from a friend who rescued a few of them from the trash at an estate cleanup. Here's another one of a Meteor, with another Vampire in the background:

(Unfortunately, it's double exposed, but at least the planes are visible!) The photographer's name was Clarence Straitiff.

Looks like Al Letcher's (sp) stuff at Mojave. He had both a Meteor and a Vampire.

Wow, that is terrific stuff. It is too bad there is not an online clearinghouse for all of these older warbird pics where they can be preserved before they get buried in older forum threads.
