Hi Tim
Yep, I was far right in the formation, "Merlin 5"", flying right echelon on VWoC's Hurri piloted by Rob Erdos. We departed Gatineau and formed up north of the airport, with Ollie's FW and Ed Russell's Harvard (Leon Evans) pre-staged as photo ships. It all came off as briefed, kudos to all. Great job by Lanc's crew as lead, very smooth. Despite the forcast, the weather wasn't the best and it's tough for the lead AC to sheppard such dissimilar AC in marginal weather. After the call in to Rockcliffe, the formation came through together. We then split into 2 groups, Lanc then fighters, with the fighters swiching over to echelon left. Made one pass in this configuration. Lancaster then departed the area, and the fighters went to trail, with some pases and recovery at Rockliffe. Being 5th guy in the flight, I got to make the most passes, while the other fighters were recovering. I hate it when that happens. As far as how it looks in that historic flight, I'm concentrating on one thing, y station related to Erdos's Hurricane. You can sneak peeks at times, but nothing substantial. One of the coolest things, for me, is the launch. Again, being last has it's benefits. Watching the the flight take off from that runway position is something one never tires of. Each AC starts the roll as the previous AC "breaks ground". Very cool. Thanks to all who worked so hard and pulled off a very memorable event. I hope the Vets enjoyed it.

Hey Rob, It was sad to see you depart Uplands after fuel and head for home. I wanted Leon to chase you in the Harvard. My father was in TO and said you looked good from the ground. On the way out from Uplands we passed over the Lanc which was also heading for Toronto. Leon did an amazing job getting the Harvard into formation with you guys which reminds me I better get back to editing photos. I should have the images posted later today.

Blue skies,

Eric
