This picture was taken at the 2006 Geneseo airshow. I was bored so I'd figured I post something. :D My favorite parts at shows like this is getting up close when they(warbirds) start up. And since the P-40 is my fav, I couldn't pass that up. So I got as close to it as I could. It was a beautiful sound as she roared to life. Then a warm up and a quick boost high to taxi out. Ohhhh I was in heaven....... :supz:

I know exactly what you mean by getting up close... I don't know what it is, but the engine sounds better and there is something about smelling the exhaust! 8)
I've worked the Akron Air Show as part of the Line Crew for the last 3 years as part of the line crew and that is as close as it gets! After working at an air show as part of the Line Crew, at other air shows I feel (and wish) like I should be on the other side of the fence!! :D

Here I am directing a Mustang out.

As you can imagine, it is even louder in front of the MiG-17! And a bit windy! :D

I made a big mistake at the Indiana Aviation Museum's Warbird fly-in back in June. I chose to stand behind their F4U-5N when it was taking a passenger up and got blasted with small rocks and dust, yet it was all worth being sprayed in Corsair fumes! 8) I got a few decent photos as well which I'll try and post later!
