When an aircraft went under survey and failed during WWII at remote airfields or the main bases or if it was never going to fly again. What did they do with the aircraft? This would be in regards to aircraft in the Canal Zone.

The A/C usually were picked over for usable parts and put in the dump. Most fields had these areas. Most were buried and may have been burned first.Depends on how busy they were as to what happened to them. The canal zone would be cool to check out but alot of our bases then are our bases now. would be hard to get on there and dig.
