The Matchbox 1/72 PB4Y-2 kit has optional parts to build the RY-3 transport version. I've got a couple of them in my Kit Stash..along with about a dozen Academy/Minicraft B-24s of various variants. I don't think the "Liberator Liner" has ever been kitted (unless there's a vacu-form somewhere) although with all the obscure stuff coming out in resin these days, it may show up in the future.

Cheers!

Maybe that's the kit I was thinking about!
Thanks.

I need to pick up one of those Matchbox kits one of these days. I need it for the tail design for the 1/9th scale R/C PB4Y-2 that I plan to build.

You might want to grab one sooner than later..they've been out of production for years, and are getting a bit rare. With all the other old Matchbox kits Revell of Germany has been re-releasing, I'm surprised they haven't done the Privateer. Judging by the chatter on the various modeling forums, it'd be a big seller.

Back in the early '80s I started to convert one to a Hawkins & Powers "Super Privateer" air tanker (I was living near Boulder, CO at the time, and there was one stationed up the road at Jeffco Airport during fire season.) At the time, I didn't have the skills (or spare B-25 engines) to rebuild the nacelles, or make the necessary new glasswork. I still plan to do the conversion someday....
