what a week, My puter died and I just got a new one, after driving 100 miles round trip from Greybull to Cody. I have been in Greybull since Sunday getting the A-26 ready to head south. The cold caused the left oil cooler to spring a leak, so for the last 3 days I have been changing it out, on the ramp, in the snow. All done, engine runs have been done and we should be going home with the Invader and C-119 by Tue. The PBY up here has been kicked out of the hangar and the PB4Ys that were sold are in there getting the spars inspected, so far 3 of them have been looked at and all of them have had cracks. so far, I have only seen 1 plane scrapped, a Neptune, one C-97 had the belly cut out of it to graft onto the C-97 that Clay Lacy bought.

well, all the planes are ready to go to thier new home in AZ. We test flew the Invader and it passed with no problems, the C-119 was run up and passed all it's checks. The 119 has been loaded up with as many spares as we could get. If all goes well, we will be wheels up at 10am tomorrow and in Phoenix around 2.

Matt - I hope that your C-119 has successfully made it to Phoenix. Can we expect to see your C-119 at any air shows at some point?

Also thanks for the updates on Clay Lacy's C-97, etc. Anything else you find out about the C-97 would be appreciated.

Matt:
I think your resume is incomplete.
Shouldn't you list "crew chief:P-51"?

I spotted the C-119 and A-26 on the ramp at Glendale (Arizona) a couple of days ago. Have not had a chance to go get a good look but I may make a trip over there this weekend. The ramp at Glendale is getting to be an interesting place with the C-119, A-26, PBY, DC-3, and S-2 scattered around!

Chad, It is not a S-2, it is a C-1A Trader, much rarer plane. S-2s are a dime a dozen.

Hey Matt;
How about an E-1 Tracer? :shock: Little more rare than a C-1 Trader, :) we will hopefully be heading down in the spring to see what needs to be done to get her going again. :D

10-4 Matt, my level of interest begins to fade a bit if they were built much after 1945! Not that I don't like the C-1/S-2, at least they still have proper motors on them. 8)
