I think Mike H. Knows these if I am not mistaken?

I am doing research on the aircraft converted to represent the Pearl Harbor attacking force for the film Tora! Tora! Tora!

The modifiers failed to properly record the military serial numbers of the aircraft modified however they did, to some extent, retain the factory cum numbers. Is it possible your associates might help us identify the military serials for the following list?
__________________________________________________________________________________________
Model C/N Registration # during filming current registration (if available)

BT-13 308 N63163
BT-13A 2307 N67208
BT-13 2819 N65837
BT-15 5017 N27003
BT-15 6656 N56336
BT-15 6991 N22009
BT-15 7356 N56478
BT-13 79-1220 N56867 (Listed number may be an incorrect military number)
BT-13B N63227

N63227 was the registration number of the Val that crashed during the film ,on January 13.1969,taking the life of the pilot Guy Thomas Strong. The crash was attributed to a high speed stall while practicing dive bombing runs for the film.

Prior to the beginning of the filming the the Air Operations Coordinator of the film, Jack D. Canary, crashed while on approach to the airport at Summit Station, Pennsylvania, August 19, 1868 while flying the BT-15 registered as N355H. He was attempting a landing in obscured visability when the aircraft struck trees, crashed and burned. Canary died on Agust 23, 1968, as a result of complications from the burns received in the crash.

I regret I can not furnish you the serial number or military number of either of the aircraft.

Help if you can...

Fred Maupin

Actually a better place to find it is here...
http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Other.html

If there are any updates I will make them to the file on my website.

Scott: Could you remove the Tora and Soplata lists from the WIX downloads section? I think they are both out-of-date.

Mike

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

This looks like the wreck of the Val replica, used for set dressing:

And as PBY N6108 flies past Ford Island, note the postwar hulks on the apron:

Were these being used for firefighting practice? The C-97 looks blackened.

Great captures!
You can even see the elusive "flat" B-17D's on the ramp right where the concrete ends. They're hard to find in most of Tora, Tora, Tora!
