Is the KC-97 you listed, the one whose engines and nose are out at the MAF Junk pile??

Sat Jun 16, 2007 11:52 am

Item 4 should be F-102A not F-120A. Fat fingers today. Sorry.

I don't think that the martin Museum has control of the HU-16. It is parked over at the ANG base along with an F-86.

The KC-97 engines at MAF are from a civil 97 they cut up for scrap at Miami in the late 90's. The C-124 was scraped in Harlingen, I remember looking inside one of the wings after they were cut up.

Sorry, but I disagree with the above comment. What may have been seen were the wings when removed and cut for shipment in a C-5A to WRAFB, GA. Below are pictures of the C-124 at Harlingen and also at WRAFB, Ga. Same serial number.

I remember all those aircraft out on the ramp when I was growing up in Harlingen. They were really neat to explore....good memories.....

Yep me too.
I have super 8 somewhere.

Hopefully they'll get HQ built fully and start bringing in some of the same kinds of aircraft back into the fray. It's kinda sad seeing all that property at MAF without planes on it. Would be nice to see some more ramp residents like those birds.
