Hey, you guys won't believe this........I get a call this morning from the director of the American Airpower Museum, and my name was drawn from a local newspaper contest to go for a ride with the Collings bombers on Friday. I clipped out the coupon and mailed it in as soon as I saw the contest, never thinking that I would win. He said it will probably be the 24, but I'm not choosey. 10:30am Friday, hoping for good weather! 8)

Congratulations! The -24 is an awesome ride with the open waist windows. I rode her last month when I was volunteering at my local stop. Enjoy the flight.

Pat,

What Tim said.

Seriously, hope you enjoy it.
In addition to the Collings a/c I would be interested to hear
what else you learn is going on there this weekend.

Thanks,
Bill

Both are great airplanes to fly in. If you have a choice you might consider the fact that there are far fewer B-24s flying than B-17s. It might be easier to get a B-17 ride in the future, than the other way around. But like I said they are both fine examples, and great rides.

What a great experience! Most impressive was the sound, and I was able to spend some time in each of the positions. They put the Rosie the Riveters up in the B-17, and us raffle winners went in the -24. Photos to follow.........

Here's an article about the event from CNN:

I've finally picked up a scanner and high-speed internet access outside of work. Here's my first-ever photo post......
