I always thought that photo was "photoshopped", has there ever been any confirmation of its authenticity?

Looks to me like the old girl is going to make a beeeg splash , with that nose down attitude :)

I call BULLSHIFT!

I once read about a B-29 returning from a mission that flew over a carrier and decided to have some fun with them by lining up and coming in with gear and flaps down!

Said the flagman was waving like a mad man!! Now that would have been a cool picture!

According to the USS Ranger Museum Foundation website, the photo is genuine...

Read once somewhere it was real. The helo in the background of the 1st pic would seem to relate to where the 2nd picture was taken from.
I thought I once heard the buff trimed out in level flight had a nose down pitch attitude.
Of course I could be wrong...my girlfriend can tell you that happens on occasion

Yah, the Buff flies in a "nose-down" attitude, as seen here:

Still looks strange, tho!

The mighty B-52 Buff flies nose-down at low altitudes, but is flying quite level at 50,000+ feet.

I believe it is slightly nose up near the absolute ceiling, which is higher than 50,000 feet.

We got "Buzzed" a few times when I was on the Forrestal and Sara. Never saw a Buff THAT low though!

Turkey's bustin the number over "fishing boats" was more fun to watch though...

I believe that is the pilot who crashed a Buff practicing for the airshow in that infamous video.

I loved the angles in this pic, from the linked page above....

I loved seeing the B-52 flyby at airshows, like Geneseo back in the day.
The airplane would look so goofy climbing, nose down!

It's just the Air Force showing the Navy guys how to really fly!

Now thats what I call flying! 8)

if that b-52 buzz job is real then those engines must have about blown out every eardrum on the carrier deck!!!

Most definitely an authentic photo.

I have heard the same story, except it was a Shackelton/Neptune/Orion of the RAF/USN/RNZAF/RAAF. The story always ends up with the line "....and the last thing the crew saw was the deck crew pushing an Sea vixen/Buccaneer/F-4 over the side" An aviation urban myth me thinks! Or am I wrong?
