Jack Roush P51 Flyover @ Michigan Speedway Saturday

Fri Jun 13, 2008 6:57 pm

Heard on Sirius NASCAR radio Jack Roush will be doing the flyover prior to the start of the Craftsman Truck Series race @ Michigan Speedway tomorrow. Michigan Speedway's website says he'll be flying a P51 and is trying to find some friends to fly their T-6 planes with him.
Race is carried on SPEED with coverage beginning @ 3PM (EDST).

The P51 that Mr. Roush flew yesterday was a D model P51. I couldn't read the name on the plane but on the side were the letters P (then the AAF insignia) B6.

From what I heard it was going to be Glamourous Glen III.

He doesn't have any airplanes painted that way anymore, and hasn't since 2006.

Do you feel better now that you got that burden off your shoulders? I am only going on the racing article I read. What plane was it then???

Sorry if you took my post the wrong way...that wasn't my intention. Roush changed one of his Mustangs from Glamourous Glen to Gentlemen Jim back in 2006, so the article was just working with old information.

I found the article that said it was Glamorous Glen III it was on Nascar.com http://www.nascar.com/2008/news/headlin ... index.html I would have thought they would know which plane he would be flying but I guess not.

...and, we all know why it is not Glamorous Glen anymore...correct? Gotta love Roush for not bending for CY :finga:

I have not heard the reason for the change from Glamourous Glen III to Gentleman Jim. Always wondered about it though.

Short story is that Chuck is a horses a$$.

For the way that Chuck has treated, me and my family, callng him a "horses a$$", would probably put you in the CY fans in this area.

I figured he wanted $$$ from NASCAR Jack to use his name, etc..... I figured Jack told him to take a hike.

If thats even close, that just makes Jack a better man in my eyes....

I had heard that CY's people informed JR's people that the design was copyrighted but could be used for a fee, and that arrangements to repaint the plane were made before the day was over.

The story may have gained/lost detail in the telling, though.

Back to lurking;
