Good question, Mudge. I'll try to remember to ask about that tomorrow, while at our Summer Staff meetings.

Soon after Steve Brown came onboard as CAF President, he transfered oversight of the websites to a CAF staff member from our previous mostly volunteer Internet Committee or team. I, as the chair of that committee, and the other members agreed we needed a major overhaul of several of our sites and needed significant outside design/development help. That work is ongoing but perhaps slower than we had imagined, and I will probably work with the old team after we get back from Dallas next week to try and make critical updates such as online ticket sales and forms on the existing sites. We are supposed to get an update on the website progress from the new folks tomorrow, I think.

As some of you know, I'm also doing a number of other chores these days for the CAF and my local Wing, so we'll do our best to get this done. That's the short skinny as I know it. Hope that helps.

Randy

Mudge~
Maybe the simplest solution is to become a member of the CAF.
Then tickets to Airsho are FREE.

No disrespect intended, BUT...Pay $150 to join CAF so I can get $20 tickets?

Sorry Mudge, but inflation has risen its ugly head, you're going to have to raid Mrs Mudge's milk money jar to make up the difference. It $240 for the first year now.

Actually, it's $200 for each year of membership. No more $40 "processing fee" or whatever it was called. Now, with that being said, it may indeed cost a few more bucks to join a particular Unit, once you're a member of the main orgainization.

Randy, or someone else in the "big building over there," please correct me if I'm wrong. I don't necessarily know all of the policies and whatnot, as I try to stay in the hangar as much as possible. :-)

CAF dues will stay at $200 for as long as it is economically viable for the organization. Contrary to the spirit of a previous post, dues aren't raised just because CAF HQ or the General Staff wish to aggravate Ober.

Since I was asked, yes, the annual dues for national membership in the CAF, i.e to be a Colonel, are now $200 the first and each year after and the old $40 processing for the initial year is gone. You can also become a Life Member for a one-time payment of 12 years dues or currently $2400 and never pay national dues again.

As noted, each CAF Unit/Wing/Squadron/Detachment charges its own annual dues for membership in the unit in addition if you wish to join the unit. An average unit's dues are about $50 annually ($25-$75 being the range I know), which help support the local unit, its aircraft, hangar and other overhead.

Let me simply say that when I began to read a great deal about WWII aircraft and aviation history at the age of 9 or 10, I never would have believed that I could get as close to and as involved with both the real aircraft and the veterans that built, maintanined and flew them as I have by my membership in the CAF for these last 24 years. Frankly, membership in the CAF and any of its Units is a bargain if you want to be involved close up and personal with all this. My 2 cents.

Randy

Come to the Dark Side my dear Ober. It's more fun here...

If Steve and Bill didn't convert everyone at the Summer Staff Conference, I'd be almost floored.
