According to popmech.ru this photo is presented from a private collection of an old Russian Air Force retiree, who have seen with his eyes the flying saucers made for Russian army in 1950s and even had a chance to make this photo. Their AF squad had a task to compete those machines in order to test their characteristics in air fight. This particular photo was made in Russian Air Force base on Shpitzbergen or Slalbard island, north to Norway.

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.

S: Took hammer away from midget.

MG, that is so fake. It's a recent photo of a MiG-17 based here in the US and the "Saucer" is CGI. There's several things about it to prove that it's CGI (like how the rest of the image is sharp but the "saucer" is blurry).

The Russians did have a project, but that's not a picture of it.

Like N5151TS says, the' Soviets NEVER used the (American) HGU-55 helmet. The Mig in the picture is a civilian one flying in the US and that saucer thing is CGI. Does this thread really belong here?

This is it Fouga! I just wanted anybody to give any info about the image. So this is civil operated plane with computer generated space and craft in behind. Thank you :) So I was wonder from the very start why is the craft behind so much look like the Hanebu project. I know that Soviet have captured some scientist as well manufacturing plant designated for this craft but as I know all was destroyed.

Also Soviet have helmets which look like from distance like the US helmets. Now I wonder why Russian site give false image as well they have what to show :!: :?: :!:

Your "source" said that it was Popular Mechanics Russia that put something up on it, however a search of the PopMech Russia site yielded nothing, either in English or Russian except this and that's on the WiG craft referenced earlier.

Basically, that site that you found the image on made it up.
