Hello All
A friend of mine, Douglas Rough, is writing a book on aviation in the area of Glasgow, Scotland for the enthusiasts publisher, Air Britain. The coverage is going to be very thorough, including subjects such as the US produced aircraft that passed through the docks for assembly by firms such as Lockheeds.
Another topic is visiting warships carrying aircraft, and here I'd like to make a request on his behalf. The warship USS Houston paid visits to several European ports , including Glasgow ,during 1946, and was carrying two Curtiss SC-1s on her catapults. Does anyone have any leads to photographs of the ship or her a/c? (The SC-1 didn't last very long in service, as far as I can make out.) Apparently one SC-1 carried the name 'The Outlaw' with a cartoon of the lovely Jane Russell - that should ring some bells if nothing else does...
Any help would be appreciated.
Peter
