Any WIX’ers going to the Jones Beach Airshow this weekend, from Ct. or New England?

I'll be at the beach on Saturday with the wife and kids. We park in Field 3 and enter from the west bathhouse side and head toward show center right.

Line up is very light this year, but we have FIFI !! I am very much looking forward to seeing her fly tomorrow. I stopped by the AAM and got some shots of her after hours with no one around. I hope the AAM puts up a good warbird demo flight to steal the show. We only have the A-10 this year besides the flip-flop acts. No team, the F-22 bailed and still no word if we are getting the F-18 demo. :? I'm sure they would have arrived by now.

Sounds like a lot of folks will be hanging out around Republic for the weekend to catch the action.

Peter

I've never been to Jones Beach even though it isnt too far. The large crowds turn me off to it.

I'll be going to Millville instead. The Blue Angels had to cancel at Millville due to a safety stand-down.

I believe Fifi will. Ol'927 couldnt make it, needs a new engine.

Seems like a lot of shows are being screwed up this year with cancellations and aircraft that can't make it or other oddities. Binghamton NY cancelled due to econemy, it rains every year at Reading, the Pyro accident in Texas, and I heard there is a small possibiity that Geneseo will be cancelled this year unless the field starts drying up...and fast! Now the Blues cancelled a few shows. I think it's been a bad year for airshows and other aviation events:?

This is absolutely not true, we are having our show this year as always.

Bit of a disappointing day at Farmingdale today. It was nice to see Fifi in motion, but no 927, no Yankee Lady, no other big iron visiting except Chris B in Glamorous Gal. There were plenty of F-18s, two in retro paint. Dameo took pity on us and did a few passes in the P-40. Because of fog over the beach, we had to wait a long time for the practice flying and there was no food to be bought.

Definitely an off-year for this show and for the Friday pre-show at the museum. Still beats an average Friday at work though.

She's coming... She stopped over in Stratford. CT to do a press flight for early next week when they come back after the Jones Beach show to do rides. Heres a video of it lifting off for the press flight.

What's the story with FIFI's "hard landing" at Republic that Newsday was reporting? Any damage to the aircraft?

Nice video Chris!
I didn't see you at the end of the runway when we took off. If I had, I would've opened the bomb bay and dropped you a note!

Nice ride and it should be a great story for the press. WWII pilot relives missions with 2 daughters and a grandson on board! He even got stick time while they watched him fly the B-17!!

Sorry I couldn't fit you on the press flight this afternoon. Next time buddy.

I can't make it to Jones Beach, but I might see some of you if you stop by Stratford on Wed. & Tues. next week when they are doing rides.
Jerry

Interesting - that was posted at 3:53 PM, but as of 6-7 PM the Twitter feed for the CAF Squadron indicated that they had two successful flights with the airshow coming up tomorrow. I reckon it's likely not that serious.
