Brandon:

The airplane was abandoned in San Jose, C.R. after the Iran-Contra scandal
blew up.

The owners of the bar paid $3,000 for it, and had it disassembled and shipped it by sea from Caldera, to Puerto Quepos, since the fuselage was too wide (by 10 inches) for the railroad.

The main portions of the plane were towed to Puerto Caldera, where it was loaded into a ferry for the move on to Quepos.

For more photos, and a somewhat politicized reading on the airplane, please visit:

Saludos,

Tulio

Tulio, link goes to a search page. Don't see anything related. Is there a search phrase I should use?

Brandon, my secretary has already sent you the right link; she takes care of stuff like that.

Tom:

Corona? Man, you should try a Gallo beer from Guatemala! One of the finest laagers ever crafted by any biermeister! : )

Saludos,

Tulio

paisano Tulio
how can you recomend cheap beer to these guys? They tired of drinking moxie and deserve something better that is not sold in cantinas and distributed in no man's land. :ouch:
I think you meant lager and not laager, since the last one means a defensive formation of wagons or motor vehicles, according to the dictionary.
paisano, keep them cold but dont abuse. :drinkers:

I did a trip to Costa Rica on business back in April, and went to Quepos on the weekend.

I didn't see the C-123 though, I now believe that it's some way out of town.

The scenery on the trip down to Quepos was interesting

Quepos International Airport! :)

Not a lot to see once you get there.

Quepos Airport is in a nice location, though.

Image

A very scenic journey back to San Jose

Image

Costa Rica's a great country, though. Fabulous scenery

Interesting wildlife

The natives seem friendly enough

(especially those in the bar of the 'Del Ray' in San Jose, but that's a different story....... )

And as for the beer, I'm not convinced about the local way of drinking it with lime juice and salt (a 'Michelada').

Great place though, and recommended for a visit.
