Fire was in the accessory section of the #2 engine.

The top of the nacelles were split open by the wheels overcentering when it hit. ( they were about 1/2 way up when she hit. They were further opened to allow someone to disconnect the batteries.

She has 100+ documented combat mission out of Pusan with the 95th BS.

What a show that was, good amount of warbirds, U-2 did a flight demo, OV-1, A-6Es, F-14s, F-111s, AH-64s... We don't get airhshows like that anymore.

Ok, I'm not sure if I am supposed to ask this or not, but I've always wondered how 44-35696 is both sitting in a field in IL and under restoration in Texas. Was the ID swapped onto another Invader after the accident?

I think around '79 or so this airplane tried to qualify at Mojave or Reno. Don't know how fast she went but it must'a sounded GREAT!!

I remember it from Mojave. flown by Dwight Reimer and called
"Cotton Jenny". Nice NMF looking A-26.

The markings in Tim's pictures are all photo documented to duplicate her original colors carried at Pusan. We believed at the time that she was the only actual combat aircraft flying in her own combat colors.

NMF didn't jump out at me. Natural Metal Finish ?

If you look at Tim's pictures you'll notice that the SS exhaust shields are somewhat polished. Some polished better than others and some showed evidence of melting. I believe it was due to hot fuel used at Mojave and Reno. Dwight did take it around the pylons at Reno. If I remember right she averaged 285 mph.
