Lets talk about the Buchon project

As you might know, this running project belongs to Jerry Yagens Fighter Factory Virginia. The task is to restore the airframe and convert it with a Daimler Benz DB605 to a "Gustav". Of course German registration and all those things.... lot of work, but a stunning project

I first "met" the fuselage in 2007 at the old shop in Freiburg, but now the project was started by Jerry Yagen

Image

not so funny ..... clean the wings and wash all the colors off. Hard work, sometimes with a toothpick

Image

Image

Image

Image

good to see the Spanish wingstructure with two spars

Image

Image

gunport ... this was/is the gunmount for the Hispano 20mm cannon, one reason for the two-spar-wingstructure

Image

looks like a ship, not like a fighter

Mon Oct 17, 2011 3:26 pm

... the left wing in its "original" shape, will say in color

Image

one of the typical spanish features. The 20mm Hispano mount. The aileron pushrod "goes around" the cannon. Tricky construction

Image

close up gun bay

Image

close up aileron pushrod

Image

close up wingspar

Image

between the spars, the ammunition bay, on the left side the feeder for the cannon

Image

close up to the ammunition feeder at the cannon-side of the wing

the complete wing

I knew this was being done, but not where... you just totally made my week, Matthias!!! Is there anything I can do to help... even send boxes of toothpicks?

It will be a glorious, glorious day when this returns to Va Beach... I guarantee you I will be taking the day off to be there for the event. :)

Thank you SO much for this!!! :drink3:
