Yeah, I noticed that after I posted the picture. That's Mosquito. He's one of the two hangar cats here. I'm not much of a cat person, but he's as close to a dog as any cat I've ever seen...so he's okay in my book. He has an issue with anyone being at a higher elevation than him, so when he saw me climb up the ladder to get in the B-29, naturally, he had to follow. I didn't even realize he was in there until I saw the picture.

Gary

Is he still up there?

Hangar cats are a good thing. Mouse urine is very corrosive.

Meet mine (Piper):

Piper looks like quite the mouser...I bet he keeps those little rodents from knawing at the electrical wires.

I don't have a hanger but my buddy "Smokie" does guard my ball turret project.

Gary

A big thank you from downunder for sharing those pics! I tell you after viewing them my to do list has another entry - meet Fifi in the flesh (or metal!)

When ever I am privileged enough to fly on our HARS Super Connie, at take off I like to sit back in the seat, close my eyes, hear the roar of the 3350's coming up to power, feel the earoplane shuddering, and try to imagine, just imagine, what it must have been like for those young guys at take off in a B-29 flying into combat...

A big cheers to you and the CAF guys,

Mark

Some pictures I took of FIFI at Davis-Monthan in 1998 (sorry for the poor quality of the scans - I'm a 35mm guy - had to run home and get the camera!). I was working on EC-130's at the time and came in for grave shift only to find the B-29 parked on our flightline. Needless to say, I didn't get much work done on the Herc's that night! Enjoy

The first photo of "FIFI" at Davis Monthan looks like Tinian the night before the Hiroshima mission!

In the last photo of "FIFI", is that a B-2 to the left and in the rear. I wonder if a photo op of the two next to each other was done.

Good eye! That is a B-2. These pictures were taken the day after an airshow at the base. Most of the planes had departed or were going to leave in the morning...
