Pat, thanks for that great link. I saw the Aircraft on display at Andrews AFB in May 1991 as shown in the one photo. I almost saw it in flight as I was departing for Cannon AFB, NM for a 2 week training period with the Air National Guard on the Sunday of that weekend. The VC-121A/Columbine II was taxiing for departure as our Civil Eng. Squadron was getting ready to leave Andrews aboard a C-22A/Boeing 727.

Let's hope that someone can put this beauty back in flying condtion again for another air show tour at some point. That would help tremendously to take away the pain we feel over the unfortunate circumstances of the fate of the MATS Connie.

I might add that if we were ever fortunate enough to have this Connie put back in flying condition to be flown to some air shows, I would vote for for the markings shown in the 1966 photo from the 'conniesurvivors" website showing the late career marking of this airplane as a VIP transport. I know it's not quite as historic as the Columbine II, but it's a lot more photogenic and good looking with the White Top and the Orange Day-Glo tail area.
