Awesome paintjob. That semi-gloss paint looks much more authentic. Would be nice to see one painted in a 49th FG scheme.

I will say though, that if I were ever blessed to own a P-40, it would be hard to NOT put a sharkmouth on it, at least for a little while.

Whilst I think it's great to see another P-40 restored to flying condition, I suspect that they have got things a little wrong here.

Please, I'm not in the bash anyone mode, but the aircraft is incorrectly finished, and not in it's original configuration.

If the serial number is correct (42-10256) then they have failed to take into account that this aircraft should, in fact, have been completed as a long fuselage K-10, not as a short fuselage K-1 or K-5 model. If the serial number is not the original then I would love to talk to them to identify the aircraft correctly.

Still nice to see, and great effort both getting it restored and presented the way they have.

I wasn't going to say it, but Buzz is right on the dot !
The P-40K-10-CU had if Im correct, a a 21 inch extension on it
After all that effort spent to get this P-40K authentic !

Another interesting point, is that Curtiss didn't always work exactly to their Manuals and drawings. From the evidence shown by surviving P-40 wrecks, the airframes had deviations in them from Riveting to Paint Colors. The decisions would have been made on the floor at the time by certain employees.
We will never know for certain the truth behind all of this factory work.

OK, Erik.... I have a problem with the P-40........ It has not been to Midland, Tx. for our annual warbird bash called Airsho'! Same goes for the soon to be flying P-38.... Would love have to you guys and both of the airplanes down for the show....... I know the Redtail guys would love to look out of the windows from the B-25 and see a P-40 and P-38 sitting off the wingtip........... If you are interested, PM me.... Great work! Alan

By the way, Airsho' has been moved up two weeks to Sept 22 & 23.

It's a great scheme Dennis but the way it was put on the EVG P-40K was awful. Bright green paint bright red spinner and rudder, shinny black prop blades, small insignias, chrome plated gear struts and gun barrels sticking 2 feet out of the wings. Mike Smith (RIP) liked to say that it looked like it was something a pimp would fly!!

Couldn't agree more Jack. I was just looking through some of my brother's pics last night which included some from a couple of the Evergreen air shows that we attended at Marana. I love P-40s as much as the next guy but that paint job was hard to look at. The sad thing is, I think I liked that paint job more than the current AVG scheme! It's a shame the Evergreen birds are not flown anymore, glad I got to see them when they were.
