Thats a big affirmative on Mike Anderson's T-6. Big Red was in attendance! This plane is N88RT and had a racing history in the 80s while owned by Bruce Redding. Its still real fast!

King,

Are you flying the Mustang nowadays?

Thats quite a group assembled down there. I hope Cotulla appreciates how lucky they are.

Everybody in Cotulla appreciates it. Both of them and the goat.

Actually Bill, now that I think about it, they might not appreciate it. The airplane noise scares the goat and keeps it from making milk...

To be honest, I had no idea what in the heck a Cotulla, TX was until these airplanes moved there. I learned about another one goat Texas town.

Um, the site is near Cotulla and is actually a no goat town called Encinal.

And the actual site is on a private ranch with a runway and "airport" that is something to be desired by most. No goats (unless to be eaten), but several deer.

Now I have heard of Encinal. I think I read a hunting story in one of my magazines, and they were on a ranch near Encinal. Its hard to beat South Texas deer. There is a whole lot of nothin out there in that part of the world, but I would definately enjoy it. Especially, if there were all kinds of exotics flying around...

Is this place in Cotulla a place that would be friendly to a "Grasshopper" dropping in some time? If so, when would be a good time?

The red and yellow T-6 belomgs to Mike Anderson, I dont know if it is the old Tejas Red. This was the first time I had seen him and the aircraft. :)

Could be wrong, probably am...but didn't Jimmy Gist buy Texas Red from John Luther and then turn it into Blue Bayou...which later became Two of Hearts? I know that airplane pretty well (helped rebuild the wings for it at Nelson's place years ago), but that was after the Dildas owned it.

Heck, I dunno. Probably got all my facts screwed up.

The last time I saw Texas Red was at Bulverde Airport about 89-91 timeframe, back in the days when wright flyers was based there, it was under a hail shed with another T6/SNJ, mixed in with a bunch of crop dusters. If I remember correctly at that time I thought the Airport rumor was that Joe Henderson owned both of them. They both looked like they needed much TLC, and I remember thinking to myself, if I had two nickels....

Its been many moons since departing the greater San Antonio area, and I'm still looking for those two nickels

I do have to say that it is a private ranch and drop in's are probably not all that welcome. Anyway, all of the warbirds stay in San Antonio in a secure hangar at SAT.

I believe that Mr. Lewis plans on setting up a museum in the not so distant future so that the aircraft can be viewed by the public, but at this time it is a business operation and those not on business at Mr. Lewis' hangar probably cannot get access to the aircraft.
